Reload SketchUp Materials and Textures

ZB Smart Material Reloader helps refresh SketchUp materials and texture files without restarting SketchUp. Use it to update changed texture files, relink texture folders, and keep external material edits in sync while you work.

Features

Reload SketchUp materials without restarting

Reload individual materials or all materials in the model in one action — picks up any changes made to the source texture files on disk.

Update Texture Folder

Point the extension to an updated folder of textures and let it re-link all matching materials automatically.

No Restart Needed

See updated textures immediately in the viewport without closing and reopening SketchUp. Keep your workflow moving.

Use cases for designers, architects, and visualizers

Material workflows often move between SketchUp and external image editors. ZB Smart Material Reloader helps keep changed texture files connected to the model so designers, architects, and visualizers can review updates faster.

Manual

Installation

Install from Extension Warehouse.

Reloading Materials

Access the extension from Extensions > ZB Smart Material Reloader.

Choose to reload a single material or all materials in the model. The extension reads the current texture files from disk and refreshes the SketchUp material cache.

This is useful when you have edited a texture in an external application and want to see the result immediately without restarting SketchUp.

Updating a Texture Folder

Use the Update Folder option to re-link materials to a new or updated folder of texture files. The extension matches materials by filename and updates the source path for each match found.

Useful when moving a project to a new machine or reorganising your asset folders.
