Smart Tag

Requires SketchUp 2017 or later. Works on Windows and macOS.

Install from Extension Warehouse.

1. Select one or more objects in your SketchUp model.
2. Right-click to open the context menu.
3. Choose ZB Smart Tag from the menu.
4. Select your action:
   • Quick Assign — applies your last used tag instantly
   • Choose tag — pick from existing tags (checkmarks show current assignments)
   • Create new tag — create and assign in one step
   • Batch manage — replace, select by, or remove tags
   • Search & analyse — find objects and view statistics

Replace tag: Replaces every use of one tag with another across the entire model. Useful when reorganising your tag structure.

Select by tag: Selects all objects currently assigned to a specific tag, making it easy to inspect or bulk-edit them.

Remove tag: Removes a tag assignment from selected objects or from the entire model.

All batch operations support undo with Ctrl+Z.

Access tag statistics from the context menu under ZB Smart Tag > Search & Analyse. The statistics panel shows:

• Every tag in the model with object counts
• Percentage of total tagged objects per tag
• Untagged object count

Use this to audit your model and find incorrectly tagged or untagged geometry.

1. Select the objects that belong together.
2. Right-click and choose ZB Smart Tag > Create new tag to create and assign their tag.
3. Select another set of objects that should use the same tag.
4. Use Quick Assign to apply the last used tag.
5. Open Search & Analyse to check the resulting object counts and any remaining untagged objects.

• Quick Assign uses an unexpected tag: it uses the last used tag. Use Choose tag to select a specific tag and check the assignment marks.
• A change affects more objects than expected: Replace tag operates across the entire model. Check the scope before running batch actions.
• Need to inspect a tag's objects: use Select by tag, then review the selected objects in the model.
• Need to reverse a batch change: the documented batch operations support Ctrl+Z.
